Situation A client has high annual turnover, which results in excessive paperwork for HR staff. Short-staffed, they send a few COBRA notices out late. The insurer does not allow employees to continue their insurance, and now the corporation has to directly pay incurred expenses due to the delayed COBRA notices.
Solution The corporation outsourced its COBRA activities to our Employee Benefits Group. We provided all of the documentation according to the most current regulations. We also monitored, documented and tracked all communications, and ensured insurance coverages were reinstated and/or terminated appropriately. Our web access and reporting enhanced our ability to communicate promptly with the client.
Results - COBRA documentation and communications stood the test of inquiry from participants, employers and regulatory agencies. - The HR staff is relieved of this tedious tracking activity and are able to focus on the strategic needs of the organization.
