Situation Due to funding reductions, a city was asked to reduce staffing levels. There was a fear that work would begin to fall behind in many departments.
Solution Through a combination of technology, process change and a restructuring of departmental ownership of tasks, we were able to streamline the various inter-departmental handoffs of information.
Results - We provided the city with a list of positions identified for consolidation.
- The city implemented performance metrics for all employees.
- The city was able to reallocate work using the new model, which was more efficient.
